About us

BHM Process Consultants Pty Ltd (BHM) is privately managed by two directors, Steven Hoban and Tony McKay. Both directors are qualified metallurgists that have over 15 years’ experience each, encompassing a large range of mineral commodities and businesses within the mining industry, both in Australia and overseas.
As previous employees of both large and smaller mining houses around the world, the directors of BHM know from experience that the most successful operations are those which operate under a principle of clear and continuous communication, thus developing a good understanding and strong, clear business case.
BHM are a small, niche business that pride themselves on providing a pro-active ‘one-on-one’ service with its clients which ultimately lead to successful relationships and business outcomes for the client. The fact that BHM are a small tight-knit group of professionals means that this communication with the client is from the highest level, therefore providing the best service possible.
BHM also work closely with other professions in the mining sector including geology, mining, mechanical and environmental disciplines. This allows complete project scopes to be defined and executed quickly and efficiently from the outset.

DIRECTOR
PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER
 

Steve has 20 years’ experience in the mining industry. His main areas of expertise are in commissioning, project design, circuit optimisation and training. Steve’s experience covers crushing, grinding, beneficiation and beneficiation/mineral separation, flotation, thickening, solvent extraction/electrowinning, and smelting. He has worked all over Australia and overseas in a number of commodities including gold, nickel, mineral sands, tin/tungsten and uranium. Steve has held numerous roles during his time in the mineral processing industry such as Principal Metallurgist, Process Commissioning Manager and Corporate Liaison Officer.

Steve is currently involved with system management, training, process design and business development. As well as being hands on and technically active, he also maintains technical excellence within the consultancy by acting as project sponsor and corporate liaison across many of the consulting division’s current projects.

SENIOR PROCESS ENGINEER
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Tony has experience in the design, execution, commissioning and operation of processing plants. He has spent 10 years working in operations. His operational experience includes both Australian and overseas locations.

In addition to his operational experience he has worked for an engineering company in both a technical and business development role, a processing equipment supplier and prior to that for a metallurgical contracting company that specialised in providing personnel for short to medium term contracts. This allowed him to be exposed to a large variety of minerals and operational philosophies.
